Angie‘s Place was established in 1984 at Toledo Children‘s Hospital by Richard and Alliene Liden in memory of their daughter, Angela, who spent much of her time at this hospital being treated for Cystic Fibrosis.

 

Angie loved reading and had a good sense of humor. When she was four years old, she had been reading “We‘re On Your Side, Charlie Brown” by Charles Schultz. One morning, when her mother was washing her long hair, she started to cry. “Don‘t cry, Angie. Don‘t cry,” her mother said. “Don‘t cry?” Angie responded. “And deprive myself of an

emotional outlet?” They both laughed and laughed.

 

Her love of reading gave her happy diversion from the world of CF and its treatments. After Angie passed away, and at the suggestion of her pediatric pulmonologist, memorial monies were used to create a lending library for hospitalized children. 

 

In 2010, Richard—known to his friends and family as Dick—sailed away to join his daughter Angie.

 

We miss them both.
