The Angela Liden Memorial Library was established in 1984, beginning simply with books on a cart. We renamed our library Angie‘s Place in 1998, encompassing our desire to move beyond just books as therapy. Then, in 2008, we opened our permanent library, currently located on the fourth floor of ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children‘s Hospital next door to the Lily Pad Playroom. At Angie‘s Place, you can find thousands of books for children of all ages and reading levels in our lending library, through our book vending machines, and in our book nooks. Our vending machines are located in the hematology/oncology unit and the main lobby on the 5th floor, and in general pediatrics on the 8th floor. Each child receives a token to place in the vending machine and can choose a book or a craft. Books in our vending machines are available in all reading levels.

We also have satellite libraries scattered throughout RJE Children‘s Hospital and other ProMedica facilities. Our Book Nooks are an extension of Angie‘s Place, providing bookcases, racks, and baskets of books in areas where children's books are needed. Currently, we have Book Nooks in the neonatal intensive care unit, in hematology/oncology, in pediatric psychiatry, and at the Cullen Center, assisting families who have experienced traumatic events such as child abuse, loss of a family member or friend, or being witness to violence.
