STARLIGHT CHILDREN‘S FOUNDATION

Added in 1999, Starlight connects children worldwide who have chronic and life-threatening illnesses and injuries, using games, activities, and stories to teach children coping skills related to their personal medical conditions. For more information go to starlight.org or contact Stephen Glad, our Child Life/Starlight Liaison at (419) 291-5607.

PET THERAPY

Children can read to therapy dogs (whom we call
non-judgmental canine listeners), giving them a fun distraction from their hospital experience.

GOOD GRIEF

The Good Grief organization of Northwest Ohio provides support for children, teens, young adults, and their families who have experienced the death of someone significant in their lives. Trained facilitators come to our library and help children work through their grief with the help of books, art, music, and play. Click here for their website.
